LHFD Halloween parade a success; contest winners announced

LOCK HAVEN — On a crisp, cool morning filled with sunshine, Saturday’s annual Halloween Parade — held by the Lock Haven Fire Department — saw a huge turnout.

Dozens of children and their families — many sporting costumes or Halloween-themed outfits — lined Main Street in downtown Lock Haven for the event.

Following the parade, participants and viewers alike were invited to Triangle Park where a panel of judges awarded floats, walkers and others in the parade with prizes.

Prize winners included:

— Best Overall Entry: Red, White and Boo, Central Mountain Youth Football and Cheer

Jessie, Ross, Adeline and Guy Driver are pictured in their Pigeons costumes which one “Cutest” at the parade.

— Best Float: Minions, RTG Solutions

— Best Halloween Themed Group: Fast Food, Dan Kunes, Hunter Merrill, Brittany and Becca Mitch

— Best Halloween Themed Vehicle: 1931 Ford, Alexander Roller

— Funniest: Central Mountain Band

— Cutest: Pigeons, Jessie, Ross, Adeline and Guy Driver

A family of pirates that include Judy Durkin, Rod and Evie Shaffer, Karizma, Creed, Conrad, Lola and Mac Johnson, took home the Judges’ Award.

— Best Costumed Pet: Lady Bug Dogs, Kathy Moriarity, Audrey Flick, Teagan O’Donald and Kayla Louise

— Best Child in a Wagon, Stroller or Buggy: Ninja Turtle

— Best Trio: Osborne Family, Jason, Kasey and Sailor Dumm

— Best Pop Culture: Ghost Buster

— Best Halloween Spirit: Enchanted Forest, Jessia Dickey, Robin Shirk and Amber Hanley

Best Trio went to the Osborne Family, made up of Jason, Kasey and Sailor Dumm.

— Most Original: Fountain of Youth, Quentin Gallagher

— Judges’ Award: Pirates, Judy Durkin, Rod and Evie Shaffer, Karizma, Creed, Conrad, Lola and Mac Johnson

The Ninja Turtle and Ghost Buster were not present to pick up their prizes and can call Eastside Fire Rescue at 570-748-5958 or stop at the fire station at 124 E. Church St. in Lock Haven.

Those at the park were treats to snacks, games and lots of fun before many headed downtown for the annual Shop or Treat.

Local businesses handed out candy and goodies to kids while parents had the opportunity to check out the many shops available downtown.
