Christmas events planned across the community

LOCK HAVEN — Christmas will be here before we know it. The Express is providing some of the events that will be happening in the community centered around the Christmas holidays.

PRE-CHRISTMAS EVENTS

— Make Rudolph’s Runway part of your holiday tradition. Each evening in December from 5-10 p.m., you can explore a Winter Wonderland of lights and decorations at 1977 W. Emery Church Road, Linden. You can see the lights in your car or by walking. Goggle Rudolph’s Runway, Linden, PA, for a gallery of decorations, lights and for directions.

— Clinton County Junior Fair Board offers a holiday adventure for the whole family — the Clinton County Christmas Holiday Light Drive-Thru — at the Clinton County Fairgrounds in Mackeyville. The drive-thru features lots of lights and holiday-themed inflatables set up along a driving path around the midway section of the fairgrounds, so load up the family and come view the decorations and have some holiday fun! Specific dates for the Clinton County Christmas event are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 12-14 and Dec. 19-21. The drive-thru runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m. each night, and admission is only $10 per vehicle.

— St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown will have a Family Movie Night on Dec. 12, at the church at 6 p.m.

— Millheim Fire Company’s Auxiliary will host a Free Winter Warmth Drive. Come to the fire station on Dec. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and select winter coats, hats, gloves and boots that will keep you warm this winter, free of charge.

— Avis United Methodist Church is having Pancakes with Santa at 9 a.m on Dec. 13. Come eat a good breakfast and take photos with Santa.

— Centre Hall Fire Company will be having a Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 8-11 a.m. Prices will be $8 for those 13 and older; $5 for children 7-12, and those six and younger will eat free. Arts and crafts will also be provided by Potter Township Parks and Rec.

— Santa Claus is coming to Gregg Township on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 6-9 p.m. Santa will be making his rounds in the area to meet children. His first stop will be at Penn’s Cave, followed by the St. Katori Church, Locust Grove Church, Penns Creek and Lingle Valley, Salem Church, Longview Trailer Park and then ending at the Gregg Township fire station.

— Nittany Ballet will present “The Nutcracker” at Eisenhower Auditorium on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. and on Dec. 14 at 2 p.m.

— Wayne Township Nature Park will be having an Elves in the Nature Park contest now through Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. Obtain a contest form from the pavilion on the left as you enter the park and then walk through the Nature Park to find all the elves. The elves are everywhere! Some elves are hidden, some are high, some are low and some are right under your nose! Children should complete the entry form and place it in the contest box. Prizes will be awarded at 3 p.m. on Dec. 14. Winners should try to be present at 3 p.m. to claim their awards.

— Santa, his elves and The Grinch will be visiting the Wayne Township Nature Park on Saturday, Dec. 13, and Sunday, Dec. 14, from 2-4 p.m. each day. Light refreshments will be provided. Bring your cameras for photo opportunities with Santa and his friends! The Wayne Township Recreation Committee will be collecting donations of canned goods and nonperishable items during the Santa visit that will be then given to the local food bank.

— Light Up Wayne Township during the house decorating contest. Decorate your home or business and then send a message to the Wayne Township Recreation Committee Facebook page or sign up on the sheet posted at the McElhattan post office to be judged. Judging will be done on Sunday, Dec. 14, between 6-8 p.m. Prizes will be awarded.

— Christmas Memories at Summit Hill Wesleyan Church, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m. A hymn sing and candlelight service with light refreshments afterward. Call Karen at 570-367-0335 for info.

— Blue Christmas Service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m., at the Howard United Methodist Church. The service offers a communal setting for people to acknowledge their laments, to find solace and experience God’s comforting presence during the holiday season. Those who may need comfort and a lift during the Christmas season as encouraged to attend.

— Howard Area Lions Food Bank will be distributing Christmas turkeys at their food distribution on Monday, Dec. 15, from noon to 3 p.m. Toys for Tots will also be given out on Dec. 15. Registration for Toys is required and can be done in the foyer of Food Bank headquarters on Dec. 15.

— Wayne Township Recreation Committee is looking for groups, businesses or individuals to sponsor a five-foot Christmas tree at the Wayne Township Nature Park. You provide the tree, stand and decorations, and we provide the electricity. Trees can arrive and be set up between today and Dec. 20. Judging of the decorated trees will be done at 4 p.m. on Dec. 20. Prizes for first, second and third places will be awarded, sponsored by First Quality.

— Wingate Faith and Fleming Free Methodist are once again proud to present a Live Nativity, “The Reason for the Season,” on Friday, Dec. 19, Saturday, Dec. 20, and Sunday, Dec. 21. Show times each evening are at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. This Live Nativity is a 20-minute outdoor moving live presentation with narration and music of the Nativity story, featuring live animals and characters. Join us and celebrate The Reason for the Season! Invite your friends and neighbors. This is a free program for the community that is held at the Eagle Towing & Recovery, 1049 S. Eagle Valley Road, Bellefonte. Eagle Towing is located along PA 150/220 S., just past the Bald Eagle Area High School. Bleacher seating is available, or bring your own lawn chair. Dress warm and bring a blanket as evening temperatures get chilly this time of year. For more info call Janette at 814-883-0893.

— Walker Township Fire Company in Hublersburg will be having a Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 20, from 8-11 a.m. This is a pancake and egg breakfast. Donations for an adult mean should be $10 and a $5 donation for children under 12 is expected. Bring your cameras for photos with Santa! Proceeds benefit the fire company. — St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown will have a Blue Christmas service on Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. at the church.

— The Nittany/Sugar Valley, Clintondale and Mackeyville Charge will be performing a wonderful Christmas play called, “The Christmas Dilemma. The play follows when an infant Savior arrives, five ordinary people find their lives upended and forever changed. In this ensemble, the stories of Mary, Joseph, a Wise Man, a Shepherd and the Innkeeper all point to the miraculous birth of Jesus and the impact His life will have on them and the world. The show will be presented at the Clintondale United Methodist Church, 103 Fishing Creek Road, Mill Hall, with shows at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. There is no charge and the event is open to the public.

— Millheim Fire Company is having their annual Breakfast with Santa on Sunday, Dec. 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the fire station. The breakfast menu offers pancakes, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, toast, sweet treats, chocolate and white milk, orange juice and coffee.

The cost will be $7 for those age 13 and older; $5 for children ages 9-12; and free for children ages eight and younger.

CONCERTS/CHURCH SERVICES

— Worship in the Woods, every Friday and Saturday night in December, running every 30 minutes from 6-9 p.m., in the parking lot of Big Woods Bible Church, 241 S. Hanna St., Lock Haven, is a display of lights celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.

— The Williamsport Flute Choir will be holding their Christmas concert on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m., in First Church of Williamsport, 604 Market St. Enjoy all of your favorite Christmas music played on a family of flutes that include piccolo, soprano, alto, bass and string bass. The event is free but donations are accepted.

— Sugar Valley Community Band presents a free Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m., at Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren in Eastville.

— Marsh Creek BIC Church is having a Christmas Candlewalk Service on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m., at the church. The public is invited to attend. — Summit Hill Wesleyan Church is having a Hymn Sing, “Christmas Memories,” on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m. Guest pianist Karin Garner and her son, Jeremy, will be there to ring in the Christmas season at Summit Hill. There will be light refreshments afterward. Bad weather reschedule date will be Dec. 28.

— The Bald Eagle Area High School’s Winter Concert will be held Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

— Marsh Creek BIC Church will have their Children’s Christmas Program on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 9 a.m. All are welcome!

— On Dec. 21, a seasonal musical concert by Cardinal Brass Quartet will be at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown, 10:30 a.m.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES, DEC. 24

— Cedar Heights Church is having a candlelight Christmas Eve Service at 4 p.m.

— Charlton Chapel (Lighthouse Ministry) will hold Children’s services at 7 p.m. This year the “littles” will read the Scripture, telling the Christmas Story and lead carols that are familiar. Candlelight service will be at 11 p.m. Communion will be served and bells are scheduled to sound at midnight.

— A Christmas Eve service will be held at 4 p.m. at the Rote United Methodist Church. All are invited to this candlelight service.

— Big Woods Bible Church’s Christmas Eve Service begins at 6 p.m.

— Summit Hill Wesleyan Church will host a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 6 p.m. Let your light shine for Jesus, the Reason for the Season! Call Pastor Stan at 814-937-1092 for info or directions.

— A Christmas Eve Worship Service at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown will be held at 7 p.m.

— Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven, and Pastor Justin Frear invites everyone to the Christmas Eve candlelight service at the family-friendly time of 4 p.m. Child care is available if needed. — The Walnut Street Church of Christ will be having a Christmas Eve. Service on Dec. 24 from 6-7 p.m. All are invited and welcomed to attend. Call 570-660-5575 for information.

— Christmas Eve Service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Mill Hall beginning at 7:30 p.m..
