Over $233K awarded in grant funds to county projects
LOCK HAVEN — Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) and Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-76) announced approximately $233,488 in grant funding has been awarded for two Clinton County infrastructure improvement projects.
“We all share the benefits of an adequately funded and properly maintained transportation or clean water infrastructure,” said Dush in a release on Thursday. “Strategically bundling infrastructure upgrades, drainage improvements, utility work and other quality of life enhancements whenever possible are proven methods for reducing overall construction costs, increasing public safety and minimizing disruptions for Clinton County residents and job creators.”
Administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, the grants were awarded as follows:
— Lamar Township: $166,714 in Multimodal Transportation funding will be used for lighting fixture improvements at the State Route 477/U.S. Route 220 intersection.
— Crawford Township Authority: $66,774 in Small Water and Sewer grant funds will be applied toward reliability improvements, regulatory compliance and future expansion at the Crawford Township water treatment plant.
“State Route 477 and U.S. Route 220 are critical routes that connect our schools, businesses, farms and communities, and they’re used daily by residents across the region,” said Borowicz in the release. “Improving lighting at this interchange is about safety and reliability. I’ve supported funding for this project for several years because better visibility means safer travel for everyone. These upgrades are an investment in the well-being and economic vitality of our communities.”
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation is available in the commonwealth.
The Small Water and Sewer Grant Program helps with the construction, improvement, expansion or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system or flood control projects.
