BE Twp. supers request bids for roadwork

Wawa construction expected in March

MILL HALL — At its monthly meeting this week, Bald Eagle Township Board of Supervisors addressed their road projects, speeding ordinance and Wawa updates, among other items.

As part of old business, township supervisors have decided which road projects they would like to complete this year and have sent out bids.

“We’re hoping to have the bids back to open at the March 6 meeting,” said Chairman Steve Tasselli.

Bid packets have been sent out to Glenn O. Hawbaker, HRI, Big Rock Paving, Dave Gutelius Excavating and Wyde Excavation and Hauling.

This year, supervisors plan to complete the back side of Keystone Central Drive, the remaining portion of Bald Eagle Mountain Road and the remaining portion of Dry Run Road.

The decision to complete these projects was made during the supervisor’s Feb. 6 special meeting.

Continuing with old business came an update to the speeding ordinance brought to the supervisors by Mill Hall Borough Police Chief Brandon Coleman.

During their Feb. 6 meeting, supervisors agreed to the list of residential and urban areas regarding the posted speed limit that was presented by Coleman.

According to Secretary Marissa Morgan, the list was forwarded to their solicitor, Frank Micelli, and can be accepted once the chart specifies the segment as residential or urban.

Once the list meets the requirements set by Micelli, the ordinance will be posted.

The long awaited start date for the Wawa convenience store has come.

During their meeting, supervisors shared a start date of early March as they are waiting for the lot to be backfilled above the flood plain before construction is able to begin

Final development plans were approved by the township supervisors late last year.

Starting at $3.69/week.
