FLEMINGTON — Preparations for a celebration of America’s 250th anniversary dominated much of Flemington Borough Council’s latest meeting.

Council at its meeting Thursday night discussed their potential celebratory plans for America250 this coming summer, amongst other items.

America250 Committee member Wayne Allison shared June 6 as the date for America’s 250th anniversary at Grove Park in the borough.

Allison and other committee members are planning a celebration with All-American classics like baseball, hotdogs and apple pie.

Along with the celebration taking place this summer, the committee would like to see residents decorate their front yard if they are able to.

“We want to encourage people to decorate, whether it be a flag in their front yard, or more, 250 years is a big deal,” said Allison.

The committee will continue meeting to discuss finalizing plans as they come up.
