Woodward supers talk Riverview Park events

LOCKPORT — Woodward Township Board of Supervisors met this month and discussed approval for Riverview Park events, solicitation ordinance updates and other items.

Looking ahead to summer, supervisors have continued to approve the use of Riverview Park for many events.

The following events were approved:

— Ashlynn Rafter will be using the main pavilion on May 9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., for a Bake to Fight Cancer Bake Sale.

— Rally for Recovery will be at Riverview Park on Aug. 18.

— Acorn School will be utilizing the park Tuesday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. during the summer for enrolled students.

The supervisors are also currently planning for Riverfest 2026 as well, but will be hitting pause on plans until after their annual Egg Hunt that’s scheduled for March 29.

“We still have a few things here and there to toe up, but we are going to turn our attention to the Egg Hunt,” said Supervisor Kyle Coleman.

This year, supervisors and volunteers will be filling eggs at the Dunnstown Fire Company on March 25 and 26, the time is to be determined closer to the date.

Moving into old business, township Solicitor Thom Rosamilia introduced an ordinance draft to the supervisors regarding solicitation within the township.

The ordinance includes a “do not solicit” list for residents that have opted out.

“Basically, there will be a list of addresses that gets handed to anyone that gets a solicitation permit that says these houses are not available,” said Rosamilia.

Those involved in activities such as Boy/Girl Scouts or other groups that sell door-to-door candy, newspapers, will be exempt from the solicitation ordinance.

Supervisors have requested that Rosamilia update the ordinance with a required permit fee of $100.

Supervisors plan to advertise the ordinance for the next meeting and will have it available on the township’s website.

Starting at $3.69/week.
