Open for business: Crowd packs Ice Shack on its opening day of 2026 season

MILL HALL — After a slightly longer wait and much anticipation, Ice Shack, 104 N. Water St., Mill Hall, is finally open for the 2026 season.

Tuesday marked the exciting seasonal opening of the popular business, drawing families and friends eager to enjoy the first day at the longtime local favorite.

Known for its ice cream, pretzel sticks, soups, sandwiches and signature Shack Storms, Ice Shack is once again welcoming the community for what promises to be another busy year.

Visitors were welcomed back with several new upgrades this season, including additional seating, handicap parking and expanded kitchen space to better serve guests.

Ice Shack has been a community staple for 19 years.

The shop offers a variety of ice cream flavors at all times, while also rotating featured ice cream flavors and soups each week.

For opening week, the featured ice cream flavor is Black Raspberry, while the Soup of the Week is Chili.

Ice Shack operates entirely through volunteers, with proceeds benefiting the Bald Eagle Boys Camp in Mill Hall.

Ice Shack is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
