MILL HALL — Bryar Delaney, an eighth grader at Central Mountain Middle School, was recently selected to represent the Northeast at the 2026 USSSA All American Games, a national fastpitch softball event, in Viera, Fla.
Delaney, 14, earned her spot on the roster in March at a regional tryout in Pittsburgh, where she finished first overall in hitting in her age division.
Delaney was one of 96 athletes evaluated at the Pittsburgh tryouts, where players were tested on agility, positional work, hitting and throwing before being scored and ranked against others their age. The tryout was one of several held nationwide as part of USSSA’s selection process, which draws players from across the country to compete for spots in the summer tournament.
In Pittsburgh, Delaney tried out for first and third base, facing off against 32 other athletes in the 13U division.
Players received their evaluation scores about a week after the tryout, with final selections revealed during a March 31 livestream. Delaney was chosen from a national pool of top performers identified through the selection process, which is ongoing.

“Bryar has worked so hard, putting in work when no one else is watching,” said her mother, Nicole Gentry.
Gentry said Delaney decided last year that she wanted to try out in 2026.
“She did, and she made it,” her mother said. “Making this team means so much to her, personally. She believes in setting goals and trying hard to achieve them.”
She said Delaney looks forward to the opportunity to play with girls from across the country who share her passion for the game.
Delaney began playing softball at age seven, starting in fastpitch before moving to slow-pitch for several years to develop her understanding of the game. Around age 11, she transitioned back to fastpitch, adjusting to the faster pace, different rules and pitching style, her mother said.

Though her primary position is first base, Delaney has also learned to play third base, pitch and catch. She has played for several travel teams and currently competes for Centre Hailstorm Fastpitch Softball, as well as Beech Creek’s junior league. She also played for Keystone Central’s Central Mountain Middle School softball team.
Gentry said Delaney is looking forward to the upcoming softball season, which begins in the coming weeks.
Delaney plans to continue training with the goal of trying out for the Central Mountain High School softball team as a freshman next year.
“After high school, although it’s a few years away, she dreams of playing college softball, somewhere that fits her,” Gentry added.
The 2026 USSSA All American Games will be held July 27 through Aug. 1 at the Space Coast Complex in Viera, Fla.
