LOCK HAVEN — Wouldn’t you like to see 100 flags flying in the downtown for America’s 250th year? You will get to see that many flags and more. You may even participate in the patriotic spectacle.
Flags of Honor will fly in Triangle Park for the 12th year. The display of love, respect and pride will last for more than three weeks, from Memorial Day weekend through the Flag Day weekend in mid June. More people than ever will have a chance to see the flags, walk through them and read the names on the individual flagpole plaques.
This is a project of Downtown Lock Haven Rotary, but it’s the community that makes it happen each year.
Everyone is invited to be a part of it by sponsoring one or more flags to remember or honor someone special. Each full-sized flag is on a 10-foot flagpole, and the poles hold a plaque with an honored name.
It’s time to think about the names you’d like to see on a plaque this year.
To sponsor a flag, mail payment and information to Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven, P.O. Box 634, Lock Haven, PA 17745.
Be sure to include:
— Your name, phone number, mailing address and email address.
— The name and wording you would like on the flag plaque.
— A check for $35 per flag made out to “Downtown Lock Haven Rotary.”
The names of the flag sponsors and of those honored will be published in The Express community newspaper and in the official event booklet.
Orders are due Monday, May 11, so send yours soon. Orders received late will be held for the 2027 event.
Businesses are invited to become Corporate Sponsors with a donation of $100. Each will receive a sign to display in the business, and each will be named in The Express and the official booklet, as well as on a banner at the park gazebo.
Proceeds support scholarships for Central Mountain High School seniors.
If you need more information or would like an order form, stop at The Express office, contact Wendy at 570-295-3443, send an email to dlhrotary@gmail.com or find Downtown Lock Haven Rotary on Facebook.
