LOCK HAVEN -- The 12th annual Flags of Honor ceremony was held in Triangle Park in downtown Lock Haven over Memorial Day Weekend, launching a month-long display running through Flag Day Weekend, June 16.
The display -- an America 250 event -- is organized by the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven to honor veterans, first responders and loved ones through a powerful field of American flags.
This year marked two new records for the program, with 95 flag sponsors and 188 flags displayed, along with 35 corporate sponsors participating.
Redmond's Complete Comfort, LLC returned as the Gold Medal Sponsor, contributing a total of 23 flags, while Angel Partners included Nestlerode Contracting Co., The Express, Reese's Print Shop, Schlesinger Communications, WQBR Bear Country Radio and Covenant United Methodist Church.
The ceremony featured a wide range of participants and honored guests, including Rotary District Governor Dawn Linn, Deputy Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Rick Vilello, Lock Haven Mayor Joel Long, Rev. Justin Frear, Scout Troop 711, MSG Monica Anderson, Army Reserve, SSG Nikki Litz, National Guard, vocalist (Cpl.) Amy Kowatch and vocalist Kim Vance.
Honored guests included Clinton County Commissioners, city council members, representatives from Clinton County Veterans Affairs and community leaders supporting the event.
Proceeds from Flags of Honor benefit scholarships for Central Mountain High School graduating seniors, carrying forward the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven's mission of remembrance, community service and local investment.
