‘A celebration of music:’ Renovo choir ends 35-year run with emotional final performance

Following a few standing ovations, a couple of encores and countless smiles and tears, the Renovo Area Community Choir sang their final song on Sunday, after 35 years of delighting audiences and becoming a source of pride for western Clinton County. “A Celebration of Music” was their final theme as they played many favorites from their decades of material. Longtime Director Patty Lacy led a brilliant show, knowing exactly when the singers, and audience, needed to shift emotions from recognizing that the show was a final farewell, to the group’s love of singing together — as much of a family as they are a collection of neighbors. Lacy noted the ironic bookends of the Renovo Choir’s existence. As Renovo celebrated its 125th Anniversary in 1991 the choir was formed to serve as an act celebrating the milestone. One of the biggest hits on Sunday was “God Bless the USA,” as the country now prepares to celebrate its 250th Anniversary.
