Centre Foundation raises $3.07M for local nonprofits
BELLEFONTE — In the final hours of Centre Gives, the Centre Foundation’s 36-hour online fundraising campaign, the charitable residents of Centre County united to surpass the foundation’s ambitious $3 million fundraising goal.
Centre Gives, which concluded Thursday night, inspired an outpouring of generosity, raising a record $3,077,294 to be shared among hundreds of local charities impacting lives locally.
Of that total, $2,537,544 came from 18,330 individual contributions supporting Centre County nonprofits. Donations were further amplified by $39,750 in prizes and $500,000 in stretch pool funds provided by the Hamer Foundation and Centre Foundation, benefiting the 235 participating organizations.
“Since 2012, our community has invested over $25.5 million in local non-profit organizations,” the Centre Foundation said. “This year, you rose to the challenge again, and it was YOUR support that made Centre Gives 2026 a tremendous success!”
Four organizations each raised more than $100,000. Centre County PAWS, a State College-based animal shelter, led the way with $128,356 from 647 donors. Centre Volunteers in Medicine, which provides free medical and dental care to uninsured county residents, raised $119,682 from 433 donors. The Schlow Library Foundation, which supports the State College Area Public Library, raised $111,807 from 618 donors. The State College Food Bank, which supplies healthy food to individuals and families in need, raised $110,945 from 390.
By category, human services organizations raised the most at $1,068,170. Health-related nonprofits followed at $465,271, then youth development at $417,825; animal welfare, $377,347; arts and culture, $355,435; housing, $210,045; environmental organizations, $197,275; and philanthropy-focused groups, $69,905.
Geographically, organizations serving the State College area received the largest share at $1,881,582 across 146 nonprofits. The Bellefonte-area followed with $815,138 split among 61; Penns Valley, $209,919 across 29; Bald Eagle Area, $167,563 across 25; and Philipsburg-area, $74,402 across 16.
Some organizations whose missions span multiple regions or service categories are included in more than one grouping.
