BELLEFONTE — Nearly every Tuesday at 10 a.m., C-NET, Centre County’s public broadcasting service, goes live from the Willowbank Building in Bellefonte to broadcast the county’s weekly commissioners meeting.
For the last 22 years, Stephanie Yager, C-NET’s operations manager, has been the woman behind the camera bringing those meetings directly to the people of Centre County. During Tuesday’s broadcast, however, the commissioners asked her to step into the shot to be recognized for her service as she transitions into a leadership role with the station.
Yager, who joined C-NET in October 2002, was recently tapped to succeed Executive Director Cynthia Hahn, whose final day with the organization is May 31. Yager will assume the role starting in June
The commissioners presented Yager with a certificate honoring her more than two decades of service and commitment to making local government meetings accessible to the public.
“Stephanie has come to the Willowbank Building every Tuesday for years and years and years,” Commissioner Mark Higgins said. “Now, she is being promoted!”
“Thank you so much for your years of service,” Commissioner Amber Concepcion added.
The commissioners also congratulated Yager on her new role and thanked Hahn for her years of leadership at the station ahead of her retirement later this month.
Yager said that although she is stepping into a new position, she still expects to appear at meetings from time to time.
“My Tuesdays wouldn’t be the same without you,” she said.
Yager first joined C-NET in a part-time role as an administrative assistant. After volunteering on several shoots, she moved into a full-time producer position, which eventually evolved into her current role as operations manager.
As operations manager she supervises production crews, manages post-production workflow, editing and preparing programming for air, creates weekly programming schedules and oversees the station’s playback system.
Stephanie graduated from Ithaca College in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in television-radio audio production and a minor in creative writing.
C-NET is Centre County’s government and education access television network. The organization administers CGTV (Channel 7) and CETV (Channel 98) on Comcast and Windstream cable systems and provides livestreaming and videography services for local governments, including the weekly Centre County commissioners meetings.
Its locally produced programming includes public meetings, high school sports, concerts and community events. The network’s 16 members include Centre County Government, Penn State University, the Centre Region Council of Governments, multiple municipalities and school districts, Schlow Centre Region Library and the University Area Joint Authority.
