HARRISBURG — A Jersey Shore Area Senior High School student is among 25 Pennsylvania seniors selected for a $10,000 scholarship tied to America250PA’s semiquincentennial celebration.
Alison Bilbay was recognized alongside fellow scholarship recipients at the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg on Friday, where Gov. Josh Shapiro and his wife hosted the group “to honor their hard work in the classroom and celebrate their futures,” according to the governor’s office.
In commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, America250PA awarded $250,000 in scholarships to deserving Pennsylvania high school seniors attending accredited colleges and universities in the 2026-27 academic year. A total of 25 $10,000 scholarships were awarded to students throughout America250PA’s six designated regions.
“These students understand where we’ve been as a nation — and I know they’ll continue to use their voices to shape our future for the better,” Gov. Shapiro said.
The Jersey Shore Area School District also expressed pride in Bilbay in a Facebook post, calling the award “an incredible achievement” that reflects her “hard work, dedication and bright future ahead.”
“We’re proud to celebrate this milestone with her and can’t wait to see all she accomplishes next!” the district said.
As of last fall, Bilbay planned to attend Lycoming College, where she received the Presidential Academic Scholarship. She intends to study criminal justice with the goal of becoming an investigator.
