Though it was a damp and cloudy weekend, Monday’s Memorial Day holiday was filled with sunshine and good weather as local communities came together to honor and celebrate the holiday. Two communities in Clinton County held annual parades. American Legion Post 623 in Beech Creek hosts the annual Memorial Day parade that began at 10 a.m. in Blanchard and ended at the Legion grounds. Army National Guardsmen conducted the 21-gun salute at the cemeteries along the parade route and American Legion dignitaries laid a wreath at the Veterans Memorial Bridge. Numerous floats, carrying both young and older folks, twirling groups, band members, fire apparatus and more participated in the parade. Afterward, parade participants were treated to free hot dogs and drinks at the American Legion grounds. Next, Loganton residents and those near and far gathered in the borough for its annual celebration. The parade began at 2 p.m. near Sugar Valley Rural Charter School and trailed its way along Main Street in the borough. Much like in Beech Creek, it featured parade classics such as the SVRCS band, floats, classic cars, tractors and more.

Starting at $3.69/week.
