Man arrested for attempted vehicular homicide

WOOLRICH– A Lock Haven man was charged with multiple offenses including attempted homicide following an altercation along the 1000 block of Park Avenue, Woolrich, around 7:15 p.m. on May 11.
Jason Wade Mikitko, 44, was charged with attempted homicide by vehicle, attempted aggravated assault and terroristic threats after allegedly attempting to hit another person with his car and then chasing them with an axe, according to state police at Lamar.
PSP Lamar and criminal investigative units responded to the fight between two men after receiving multiple calls reporting an active fight.
According to police, at least one call alleged one man was wielding an axe and another man was wielding a firearm.
Through investigation, it was determined Mikitko attempted to strike the other with his 2016 Ram truck at a high rate of speed, narrowly missing the victim, police said.
Mikitko then reportedly got out of his truck wielding a small axe, and chased the victim. The victim reportedly retrieved a firearm, which caused the men to separate from each other.
Based on interviews and surveillance footage, charges for attempted homicide were approved by the Clinton County District Attorney’s Office for Mikitko. He was served an arrest warrant and taken into custody, according to police.
Mikitko was arraigned by District Judge Frank Mills and bail was set at $200,000 Mikitko remains incarcerated at the Clinton County Correctional Facility.
Additionally, police say a search warrant for the victim’s residence was granted through District Judge Mills.
Upon investigation, police reportedly found drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
