JERSEY SHORE — To further support community safety and emergency preparedness, Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital recently donated automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to several local EMS and law enforcement partners.
The donations were made to Lycoming Regional Police, Jersey Shore Area EMS and the Lock Haven Police Department.
Sudden cardiac arrest can occur without warning, and immediate access to an AED significantly increases the chance of survival. By expanding the availability of these devices in the field, Jersey Shore Hospital is helping ensure that first responders have the tools they need to deliver rapid, lifesaving care when every second counts, according to a release from Geisinger.
“Our community partners are often first on scene during medical emergencies,” said Jason Schauer, MD, North-Central region chief medical officer. “Providing additional AEDs helps strengthen healthcare across our region. This is one more way we can work together to improve outcomes for our patients and neighbors.”
The release noted this donation reflected Geisinger’s continued commitment to building strong partnerships throughout Lycoming and Clinton counties and supporting those who serve on the front lines every day.
Through collaboration with EMS and law enforcement agencies, Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital remains dedicated to advancing community health and ensuring access to critical resources across the North-Central region, the release said.
