New mural in Renovo explores town’s history

Travelers passing west through Renovo on Rte. 120 will no doubt be captivated by and interested in the Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park’s newest mural, a tribute to the region’s lumber heritage that helped to shape Renovo into the town it became, and — along with the railroad — helped to create the biggest boom that the town has ever seen. In addition to the main sign that hangs high on the wall of the Service Garage on 6th Street — just steps away from Heritage Park Headquarters — a small sign also hangs with information, as well as a QR Code on the rich timbering history. Artist Steve Getz created the fascinating murals, which were then printed and built by Brownie’s Signs. Employees of Smith Construction and Excacation along with the Renovo Borough hung the signs on Thursday, drawing onlookers including some who brought chairs to watch hard work and dedication of Heritage Park to become a reality.
