Lock Haven VFW donates flag pole; ceremony planned for July 4

The Bland J. Rossman Veterans of Foreign Wars of Lock Haven recently donated a new flag pole near the J. Doyle Corman Amphitheatre. The pole, which is 50 feet tall, cost $9,000 with concrete donated by Harger Utility Charities and equipment donated by Harger Utility Contractors and Action Equipment. Labor was provided by members of the VFW. A flag raising ceremony and dedication is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, in honor of America’s 250th birthday. According to VFW representatives, a 10-foot by 15-foot flag will be used with its location expected to line up with the “I <3 Clinton County" sign located across the West Branch of the Susquehanna River at the Woodward Township Boat Launch. The VFW noted a small plaque will be placed at the pole to honor Clinton County veterans. Pictured with the pole are members of the VFW. They are, from left, Auxiliary member Jim Russo, Quartermaster Dave Harger, Trustee Jimmy Pringle and Senior Vice Commander Butch Long. PHOTO PROVIDED
