Lononconus sworn in as interim superintendent

LOCK HAVEN -- Dr. Alan Lonoconus was officially sworn in as Keystone Central School District's interim superintendent.
Lonoconus, who started in his role on July 1, was sworn in by Clinton County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Craig P. Miller and Judge Michael F. Salisbury on Tuesday, July 21.
Lonoconus was appointed to the position following the departure of Dr. Francis Redmon, who left the district on June 30.
This is Lonconus's second time serving as interim superintendent.
He previously served in the role in 2018 after the resignation of then-Superintendent Dr. Kelly Hastings.
Lonconus was most recently appointed to the position by the district's board of directors on June 18.
Lonconus's contract sees him being paid a per diem rate of $775. He may be paid an additional $400 per day/8 hours for any work or service, of any type, not on district property.
Lonconcus's contract does not include insurance, vision, prescription, medication, dental or retirement benefits while in his role.
If the contract, which is set to expire on Dec. 31, 2026, were to be extended, it notes the per diem rate would increase to $800 per day.
At its meeting in July, the board of directors took steps in its search for a permanent superintendent by hiring Templeton Advantage, LLC at a cost of $15,000. Templeton Advantage will work with Dr. Christina Steinbacher-Reed, executive director for BLaST IU17, to ensure a regional lens is included in the search.
