The Sugar Valley Lions Club celebrated America 250 on Sunday, July 26, at their park located on Campground Road in Booneville, Pa. The event, presented as "Happy Birthday America 250," was perceived as an old-fashioned Sunday afternoon picnic with friends, family and outsiders that became friends. Those in attendance enjoyed hot dogs, ice cream, an assortment of cakes and bottled water all at no cost to them. Though the weather predicted a chance of rain, it did not deter anyone from bringing their lawn chairs and settling in for an afternoon of entertainment by Heather Olson. Heather opened the event by singing the National Anthem and continued for nearly two hours with a mix of Patriotic, Country, Hymns and her signature tribute to Patsy Cline selections. Lion Robert Mills spoke on behalf of the club members thanking those that attended the celebration. Everyone enjoyed seeing many familiar faces and meeting new ones as well. Pictured are attendees enjoying the celebration and Heather performing for the crowd.
