BELLEFONTE -- A $500,000 grant from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program will help Centre Care offset the cost of campus improvements at its healthcare facilities in College Township, announced state Rep. Paul Takac, D‑Centre.

This infusion of grant dollars will be used to complete critical upgrades, including the construction and paving of 40 additional parking stalls, interior renovations of the main facility, property acquisition, construction of a new commercial facilities building, and site work preparation.

"Centre Care plays a critical role in our community, providing short term rehabilitation, long term nursing care, and other therapeutic services," Takac said. "This grant is a practical, high impact investment to help them continue to provide outstanding patient care. Expanded parking, modernized interiors and a new support building will make the Centre Care campus safer, more efficient and easier to navigate for residents, families and staff."

"This project strengthens the foundation of long-term care in Centre County," Takac added. "At a time when so many health care facilities are struggling with funding cuts and shortfalls, this grant to help improve access and update essential infrastructure will help ensure that Centre Care can continue serving our community for many years to come."
