BEECH CREEK -- The Twisted Racquet-Tears will host a fundraising concert for Artpost Awareness on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 1-6 p.m., at the Beech Creek Fire Company social hall, 38 Locust St., Beech Creek.

The Twisted Racquet-Tears derived its funny name from two of the members who also play racquet ball.

The group's members volunteer their time and talent to orchestrate musical events and sing-a-long concerts with the song lyrics projected onto a big screen so folks can sing-a-long. The group also encourages other musicians to bring their instruments and play along with the band.

Come out to the concert on Aug. 15 where they will be having fun, singing country, gospel and the classic tunes together.

During the concert square dancing and line dancing can also be experienced. Hot dogs and refreshments will be available, all to raise funds for Artpost Awareness and its mission to bring art and music workshops to senior citizens, combat veterans and families.

Free-will donations will be gratefully accepted which will support Artpost Awareness to facilitate guidance, classes and workshops for individuals or groups so that they can participate in communication, art, music and journaling, and to provide materials, supplies, equipment and computers for that facilitation.

George Stefanski, director of Artpost Awareness, routinely hosts free art classes locally at the Lock Haven STEP Seniors' Center on Monday mornings from 10-11:30 a.m., and at the Friendship Community Library in Beech Creek on Monday afternoons from 4:30-6 p.m. Participants are encouraged to come to the classes and let your creativity flow.

Artpost Awareness interacts with people who believe they can't draw in a way that changes their minds enough to do some simple exercises, like drawing a leaf, an egg or a cube, and before you know it, they are creating beautiful drawings.

In addition to the free art classes, musical events also occur each month.

On the first and third Fridays of the month there is a sing-a-long and play-a-long from 1-3 p.m. at the Lock Haven STEP Seniors' Center and once a month a concert is held for the residents at Haven Place in Lock Haven.
