LOCK HAVEN -- The City of Lock Haven will hold an additional public hearing related to the proposed comprehensive amendment and replacement of the city's Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO) tonight, Aug. 10. The hearing will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at city hall in council chambers, 20 E. Church St., Lock Haven.
Residents, taxpayers and members of the community are invited to attend the hearing to share their comments on the proposed ordinances.
Comments can also be emailed to Cyndi Walker at cwalker@lockhavenpa.gov. Emailed comments will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Aug. 10.
According to a release from city officials, the proposed ordinances will repeal the existing Zoning Ordinance and SALDO and replace them in their entirety with a new Zoning Ordinance and SALDO.
This legislation regulates land use, development standards, zoning districts, permitted and conditional uses, administration and enforcement provisions and related matters within the City of Lock Haven, the release said. The proposed Zoning Ordinance also includes an updated Official Zoning Map of the City of Lock Haven, which establishes zoning district classifications for all properties within the City.
The city has been working with Michael Baker International since April 2025 to update the Zoning Ordinance and SALDO to reflect the vision of the community.
The process has included community engagement through meetings and surveys, collaboration with a project steering committee and input and review from city staff, several focus groups, Lock Haven City Planning Commission and city council.
The draft ordinances have been available for public review since July 6, and a public hearing was held on July 20.
The release notes that comments from the community have been implemented into the ordinances that will be presented in their revised form at the Aug. 10 public hearing.
The proposed Zoning Ordinance, SALDO and Zoning Map are available on the city's website, lockhavenpa.gov. The information can be found by navigating to the city's Civil Space Page at the tile on the homepage, to the Zoning Ordinance & SALDO page under the Planning Department tab or the Zoning page under the Code Enforcement Department tab.
In addition, a copy of the full text of both proposed ordinances and the proposed Official Zoning Map may be examined without charge at city hall during regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A copy of both full ordinances and the proposed Official Zoning Map is also on file at the Ross Library, 232 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Copies may be obtained for a charge not greater than the cost thereof.
