MACKEYVILLE -- Today and tomorrow mark the final days of the 2026 Clinton County Fair, so if you haven't been out to the fairgrounds in Mackeyville this week, now's the time!
Area veterans are recognized for their service today as part of the 53rd Clinton County Fair. The fair association has designated today as Red, White & Blue Day, and veterans (with proper ID) receive free admission and parking. The parking is sponsored by the Gedon Funeral Homes in Lock Haven and Mill Hall.
The annual Clinton County 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) Dairy Show and the Open Dairy Show kick off the days' activities at 10 this morning.
At 2 p.m., an Animal Dressing Contest promises to be a fun time, as 4-H and FFA youth dress up their cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits and horses and vie for titles such as cutest, most creative/original, famous character/person, best animal/contestant look-alike, best complete group and best in show/best overall. The dressing contest is followed by a Supreme Showman program at 4 p.m.
There is a 4 p.m. Veterans Program at the Fairgrounds Main Stage Pavilion, which is also sponsored by the Gedon Funeral Homes.
Also at 4 p.m., the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School presents an FFA display inside the Commercial Building.
Two different contests take place at 5:30 p.m. today: a Hot Dog Eating Contest (for ages 16 and up) and a Youth Pie Eating Contest for ages five to 17. Both contests are held in the 4-H & Open Show Building and are sponsored by Baby Grumper Vending Services of Blanchard.
The Open Gaming Show is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Horse Arena and will be held rain or shine.
Weather and track permitting, the Clinton County Speedway hosts an extra special Friday night race in memory of local racing legend Jim "Cowboy" Kennedy, on what would have been his 92nd birthday. The 7 p.m., five division night of racing features the 270 Micros, RaceSaver Sprints, Pro Stocks, 4-Cylinders and Junior Sprints. The Speedway gate opens at 5 p.m. There is a separate admission for the race.
Entertainer Rick K. brings his "Motown to Mars" decades of hits concert to the Main Stage tonight at 7:30.
Fair goers are invited to enjoy some ice cream from a Giant Ice Cream Sundae made by Fair volunteers. Compliments of Sunset Ice Cream, the Giant Sundae is built at 7:30 and served free to everyone from the Show Arena.
The 9:30 nightly free drawing for bicycles wraps up the day.
There will be one final drawing for bicycles tomorrow night at the fair.
In addition, fair raffle prizes will be drawn Saturday night, as will the raffle for a quarter of beef and a chest freezer, donated by D.N. Dunkle Farms. You can purchase raffle tickets inside the Commercial Building.
