Centre County recognizes Day of Caring

BELLEFONTE -- The Centre County Board of Commissioners approved a number of items at its voting meeting this week.
Among these items, the board issued a proclamation recognizing Thursday, Oct. 1, as Day of Caring in Centre County.
Day of Caring
For the 32nd year, the Centre County United Way has organized their annual one-day community service event. Each October, volunteers gather from across the county to help local nonprofits complete projects that the agencies otherwise do not have time or resources to address on their own.
Hundreds of volunteers participate each year to support nonprofits in ways beyond financial donations. High school and college students, local organizations, and individual community members offer services ranging from cleaning and organizing to painting and preparing care packages.
The annual Day of Caring helps sustain local nonprofits while supporting community involvement and community building.
