Labor Day Regatta officially kicks off Saturday with opening ceremony

LOCK HAVEN -- It's beginning to look a lot like… Labor Day Weekend in Lock Haven.

Temporary fencing, no parking signs and many other preparations for the 55th Annual Lock Haven Regatta Foundation Labor Day Regatta were completed this past weekend by foundation members and about a half-dozen community volunteers.

Temporary fencing was installed along East Water Street from Jay to Henderson streets, along Canal Park from East Water Street to East Main Street and along the boat launch section of Lockport Boat Launch Park in Woodward Township.

Additionally, no parking signs were installed to help allow for the proper set-up of the many vendors, rides and other attractions.

With the generous support of the City of Lock Haven, parking will be prohibited on East Water Street from Jay to Henderson streets from 6 p.m. this Thursday, Sept. 3, to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8. Any illegally-parked vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense.

The regatta features carnival rides, vendors, food, games, craft vendors and powerboat racing, along with fireworks on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 10 p.m. Fireworks rain date is Monday, Sept. 7, at 9 p.m.

Midway and arts and crafts hours are Friday, Sept. 4, from 6-10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 5, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Clinton County Commissioner Angela Harding will present the opening ceremonies Saturday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m.

The Lock Haven Labor Day Regatta won the Best Site of the Year award from the American Power Boat Association (APBA) in 2019, recognizing the event for its exceptional race quality, strong attendance and vibrant atmosphere.

The award-winning boat races are sanctioned and presented by the Delaware Valley Outboard Racing Association (DVORA).
