MILL HALL -- Mill Hall Borough Council approved several ordinance updates and scheduled budget sessions during its regular meeting this week.
The ordinance committee reviewed the dog-at-large ordinance, excavation permit changes and code enforcement matters during their monthly meeting on Sept. 9, ahead of Tuesday's meeting for council approval.
Council approved an ordinance regarding dogs running at large following a recommendation from the borough's ordinance committee, stating no owner may allow dogs to run at large. If a dog is found to be running unleashed they will face a $100 fine.
Members also approved revisions to the borough's excavation permit, adding additional language intended to clarify permit requirements.
Council additionally approved increasing the sewer turn-on fee for shutoffs to $250 via Fee Resolution 2026-01 C.
Council accepted the highest bid, totaling $1,800, for a jointly owned municipal air compressor with Lamar Township after both municipalities agreed to sell the equipment. The proceeds from the sale will be divided equally between the participating municipalities.
Residents are also reminded that leaf collection will take place on Tuesdays in November -- Nov. 3, 10, 17 and 24. Borough officials asked residents to place bagged leaves at the curb and not include tree branches, grass clippings or garbage.
Looking forward to next year, council has scheduled budget work sessions for Oct. 5 and Oct. 7, with the meetings beginning at 6:30 p.m. to include police and public safety budget discussions.
