BELLEFONTE -- After an extensive search, Danielle Minarchick has been selected as the next Warden of Centre County Correctional Facility, making her the facility's first female warden in history.
Minarchick will serve as the successor for Glenn Irwin, whose career in corrections has spanned over 40 years.
Minarchick began her service-based journey at the Pyramid Healthcare Juvenile Residential Facility. She later transitioned to corrections when she began working for Centre County Correctional Facility in 2005.
"Over her career, she has shown great leadership skills and will continue to be a great asset to the Facility moving forward," Irwin said of Minarchick.
Minarchick developed an in-house re-entry program aimed at supporting and rehabilitating people with substance use disorder and other mental health concerns. In addition, she became a certified instructor in mental health first aid and trauma informed care. Minarchick was the first certified instructor at Centre County's Correctional Facility, bringing many new beneficial programs to the facility and its staff.
In 2023, Minarchick was promoted to Deputy Warden for Administration. This new role would make her responsible for supervising the Facility's treatment services team, the medical team, and the food service staff.
"On a daily basis, she not only ensured that treatment programs were offered, but that they were truly effective," shared Irwin, "she played a huge role in the implementation of the Medication Assisted Treatment Program, which continues to be a benefit to those living with substance use disorder."
Minarchick was appointed by the Prison Board of Inspectors during their public meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 2, and the Board of Commissioners approved Minarchick's appointment during their meeting on Thursday, Sept. 3. The Commissioners offer a sincere thank you to Glenn Irwin for his service to the County and the Commonwealth, and share congratulations to and excitement for the new Warden, Danielle Minarchick.
