A Community that Cares: The Hope Mitchell House opens its doors to assist public through local support

LOCK HAVEN -- Hope S. Mitchell had a big heart … so big that she made the world a better place! That's what social service worker colleagues and friends said of the late Hope Mitchell as they honor her in a special way. The Hope Mitchell House is situated on Bellefonte Avenue in Lock Haven, a dream come true for the Clinton County Housing Coalition. Recently, the coalition held an open house for providers and supporters, offering tours of the six apartments that will serve people suffering from chronic homelessness and living with a disabling condition.
Hope passed away on April 13, 2023. She was a Lock Haven University graduate and worked as a social worker with Clinton County Independent Living Program. She is honored with a special plaque near the office. The coalition continues to raise funds and donations for the house as it works to fully furnish the apartments before occupancy.
The Clinton County Community Foundation provided a $6,741 competitive grant to allow the Coalition to buy appliances.
