MILL HALL -- With a chill in the air on Saturday paired with sunny skies that brightened the fall foliage, everything seemed to come together perfectly for the 21st Annual Brews in the Barn at Millbrook Playhouse this weekend.
Hundreds took to the barn, and a portion of outdoor space provided by Haywood's on the Green, to support the playhouse's mission to bring live arts to the community while enjoying delicious chili and beer.
According to volunteer organizers, the event brought in over 400 patrons with 100 volunteers helping pull off the decades-old event.
The event saw a number of brewers, from local craft breweries, talented homebrewers and some delicious pours provided by Bald Eagle Distributors, and many chilis available for attendees to taste-test. Those who attended also were given tickets to determine the best brews and the best chili.
Brewers both big and small included: homebrewers Ken Marquar, Jim Rogers and the State College Homebrewers; commercial brewers and partners Bald Eagle Distributors, WR Hickeys, Rusty Rail, Rosko's Brew House, Robin Hood, Otto's Pub & Brewery, Erie Brewing, New Trail Brewing, Axeman Brewery and more.
New this year were games including:
-- Speed Puzzling Tournament: Grab a team and race against the clock for a chance to win prizes.
-- Giant Jenga and Cornhole Toss: Challenge your friends to our classic lawn games.
-- Interactive QR Code Scavenger Hunt & Photo Booth: Snap your memories at our fall backdrop and scan the on-site QR code to play and win.
-- Traditional and 50-50 Raffles.
The Penn State Football game between the Nittany Lions and the University of Michigan was also available for sports fans both indoors on the patio and outside.
