BELLEFONTE -- The Board of Commissioners proclaimed Wednesday, Oct. 21 as Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day in Centre County.
The proclamation calls attention to National Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day -- observed annually on the third Wednesday in October -- which recognizes local chambers of commerce as key small business advocates, economic growth drivers, and policy champions.
This proclamation also urges community members to patronize businesses, attend events, volunteer time, donate to support initiatives, and engage through social media to show appreciation for their chamber.
"We'd like to thank all the chambers in the county, but especially the Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County (CBICC), for all of the great work they've been doing," said Commissioner Chair Mark Higgins. "Not just for supporting local businesses, but also for supporting affordable housing, outdoor recreation, and additional areas."
Founded in 1920, CBICC provides education, connection, and guidance to nearly 700 members across Centre County and beyond through events, leadership, partnerships, and programs. CBICC has added more than 38 new members this year and continues to advocate for workforce development, regional collaboration, and entrepreneurial support.
"We appreciate the support of the County and are grateful for this recognition," said Melissa Roth, CBICC director of membership. "Our partnership with Centre County government has made a real difference on initiatives such as air service, housing, and workforce for Centre County businesses. We're proud to work alongside you."
To celebrate Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day, CBICC will host the 2026 Centre County Business Awards and recognize distinguished individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations who bolster the community and economy. Limited tickets remain available for purchase online at cbicc.org/awards.
