LOCK HAVEN -- Express General Manager Megan Muthler is announcing a change in the community newspaper's editorial staff beginning Monday, Oct. 26.
Current Managing Editor, Laura Jameson, will be stepping back from the role and Design Editor/Editorial Page Editor Arianna McKee is tapped for the position.
"While we are sad to see Laura leave us, we are so grateful for the nine years she has given The Express. Arianna has been such an integral member of our team here, and we are delighted to see her move into her new role of managing editor," Muthler said.
McKee is a 2011 graduate of Lock Haven University with Bachelors in both English-Writing and Philosophy.
She has filled in various roles since she began working at the paper in 2017, beginning as an editorial assistant in the newsroom before working her way up as a night editor and associate editor.
Today, she handles the vast bulk of the paper's layout, design, and graphical needs, as well as assisting with editing content and selecting stories from the Associated Press. Following the retirement of Publisher Bob Rolley, she began selecting content and editing the newspaper's editorial/opinion page. She also writes articles for the paper as time allows.
McKee has received numerous awards and accolades for her design and editorial works since 2020.
"I've worked with Laura for a long time now, and I've always been impressed by her rigor and dedication," McKee said. "I hope to uphold those traits myself as The Express continues to move through its 145th year of publication."
Jameson is an award-winning journalist whose career began -- and continues -- at The Express.
A 2016 graduate of Jersey Shore High School, where she wrote articles for the school's student newspaper, Jameson joined The Express in August 2017 as an editorial assistant.
In 2018, she was promoted to staff reporter and took over the duties and responsibilities of her predecessor, long-time community news and features editor Wendy Stiver.
In 2021, Jameson was promoted to assignment editor and in 2022 she was named managing editor.
Though stepping away from her managerial role, she will continue to write articles and cover beats such as the City of Lock Haven and Keystone Central School District in a freelance capacity.
"The last nine years I've spent at The Express have been nothing short of a dream come true. I'm grateful for my coworkers both past and present and for the community who supports The Express's mission," Jameson said. "I look forward to continuing to be involved in a new capacity as we deliver quality, local news to our subscribers."
