Halloween parade is just weeks away

LOCK HAVEN -- Lock Haven's annual Halloween parade, sponsored by the City's Fire Department, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to march in the parade and compete for prizes of cash, gift certificates and merchandise donated by local businesses, organizations and individuals who support the parade.

In addition to the top prize for the Best Overall Entry, other prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Best Float, Best Halloween Themed Group, Funniest, Best Halloween Themed Vehicle, Most Original, Best Halloween Spirit, Best Duo, Cutest, Best Costumed Pet, Judges' Award, Best Pop Culture and Best Child in a Wagon, Stroller or Buggy.

Participants may join the parade line-up between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Those walking in the parade should line up on North Henderson Street between East Main and East Water Streets. All vehicles and floats should line up on East Water Street.

At 10 a.m. the parade will move up East Main Street, ending at Triangle Park where everyone is invited to enjoy refreshments while the judges make their decisions. The prizes will then be awarded. Also at Triangle Park will be free activities for children including Halloween Corn Hole, a Fishing Pond, Pumpkin Decorating and more.

In case of rain, an indoor party will be held beginning at 10 a.m. at Eastside Fire Rescue on East Church Street. Tune in to WSQV the morning of the parade for any weather-related updates.

As always, parade participants are asked to refrain from political advertising.
