LOGANTON -- After a decade of honoring the life and legacy of Lenny G. Young, III, the Young family hosted the final Lenny G. Young III Memorial Shoot on Aug. 8, 2026, at the Southern Clinton County Sportsman's Club in Loganton.

For 10 years, Len and Kathy Young have organized the annual event in memory of their son, Lenny, who passed away in 2016. What began as a tribute to his life and passion for shooting sports became a beloved community tradition, raising funds for scholarships benefiting graduating high school seniors involved in the Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) program.

After a decade of dedication, the Young family has made the decision to transition the annual shoot and scholarship program to YHEC, ensuring Lenny's legacy will continue to support future generations of young shooting sports enthusiasts.

The final event brought together shooters, sponsors, volunteers, and friends for a day of fellowship and remembrance. Activities included shooting competitions, a silent auction and food. Displays of Lenny's photographs, awards and custom truck served as meaningful reminders of the young man whose memory continues to inspire others.

"We are honored to work with the Young family through the scholarship process each year," remarked Keystone Central Foundation Executive Director Melissa Bottorf. "Len and Kathy have poured their hearts into this event for a decade, making it memorable for every shooter, sponsor, volunteer and supporter. Their dedication has not only kept Lenny's memory alive but has created meaningful opportunities for young people who share his passions."

The final recipients of the Lenny G. Young III Memorial Scholarship were Glenn Hough, Drake Embick and Benjamin Parker.

The Young family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Southern Clinton County Sportsman's Club, YHEC and the countless sponsors, volunteers and community members who have supported the event throughout the years, including the students who helped as part of their senior projects.

While this marks the end of an era for the Young family, the continuation of the shoot and scholarships through YHEC ensures that Lenny's legacy of generosity, sportsmanship and love of the outdoors will live on.
