MILL HALL -- An evening of mystery, delicious food, laughter and community generosity is just around the corner as guests prepare to gather for The Case of the Missing Heirloom, a murder mystery dinner benefiting Beyond the Bell for Clinton County and Boxes of Hope.
Scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, at Haywood’s on the Green, the special fundraising event will showcase an entertaining night while supporting two organizations dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of individuals and families in the community.
While guests will spend the evening trying to solve the mystery, the real story behind the event is one of opportunity, compassion and community support.
Helping Clinton County Children Go Beyond the Bell
Beyond the Bell for Clinton County is a nonprofit organization with a mission to make extracurricular activities accessible and inclusive for children throughout Clinton County, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
The organization recognizes that participating in sports, arts, music, theater, dance, scouting and other extracurricular activities can have a lasting impact on a child’s development. These experiences help children build confidence, develop friendships, learn teamwork, discover their interests and develop valuable life skills.
However, registration fees, uniforms, equipment and other participation costs can create financial barriers that prevent some children from getting involved. Beyond the Bell works to remove those barriers by providing extracurricular scholarships of up to $150 per child, per sport or activity. Assistance can help cover registration fees and essential equipment, making it easier for families to say yes when their children want to participate.
The organization also strives to make the process simple and welcoming. Families do not need to navigate complicated paperwork or provide proof of income to request assistance.
At its heart, Beyond the Bell believes every child deserves the opportunity to play, grow, explore their interests and feel like they belong.
The second organization benefiting from the evening is Boxes of Hope, a nonprofit with a heartfelt mission to bring encouragement, comfort and support to women facing breast cancer.
Founded by breast cancer survivor Traci Fotorny, Boxes of Hope began with one simple act of kindness. Following her own breast cancer treatment, Fotorny sent a care package to another woman navigating the disease. The recipient described it as a “box of hope,” and from that moment, an organization dedicated to sharing hope with others was born.
Today, Boxes of Hope has grown into a ministry serving women throughout the United States and Canada, providing thoughtfully assembled care packages and handmade heart-shaped mastectomy pillows to women undergoing active breast cancer treatment.
A Vision for an Even Brighter Future
Beyond the Bell’s mission extends beyond helping children participate in extracurricular activities.
Founder and Executive Director Cara Montarsi Jackson said she envisions a future community center where children have a safe and supportive place to go after school. The proposed vision: A place where every child feels seen, supported and reminded that their future matters.
The goal is to create a place where children feel supported, families know they are not alone, and local businesses, organizations and volunteers can come together to make a lasting difference.
Every scholarship awarded, volunteer who steps forward, business that partners with the organization and child whose life is positively impacted brings that vision one step closer.
It is this commitment to investing in local children and strengthening the community that makes support for Beyond the Bell so important.
An Evening of Mystery, Food and Fundraising
The November 7 murder mystery dinner offers community members an opportunity to enjoy a memorable evening while supporting Beyond the Bell for Clinton County and Boxes Of Hope.
Guests will enjoy The Case of the Missing Heirloom at Haywood’s on the Green, with three delicious dinner selections available ahead of an exciting night. Organizers encourage dressy casual or cocktail attire for the occasion. Those who enjoy dressing up are encouraged to do so, but business casual attire is perfectly acceptable. Formal attire is not required, and there is no need to purchase a special outfit. The goal is for everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy the evening.
Making a Difference Together
Community events like this are about more than an evening of entertainment. They bring people together around a shared purpose and help provide resources for organizations working to improve lives close to home.
For Beyond the Bell for Clinton County, every contribution helps open doors for local children who might otherwise miss out on opportunities to participate, discover their passions and build confidence.
As the organization continues working toward its vision of a stronger, more supportive community for Clinton County families, the generosity of local residents, businesses and community partners plays an important role.
On November 7, guests will gather for an evening of mystery, delicious food, laughter and a little sparkle. And while the mystery of the missing heirloom may need solving, one thing is certain: investing in local children and supporting organizations that care about their future is a cause worth celebrating.
