LOCK HAVEN -- Preliminary results show incumbent Stephanie Borowicz holding a strong lead over her Democratic challenger, Sara Eggler. As a reminder, all results are considered preliminary until their certification, which typically happens a few weeks after Election Day.
With all 33 Clinton County precincts reporting, Borowicz holds 7,719 votes to Eggler's 4,896 -- a gap of nearly 3,000. In Union County, the 16 relevant precincts report preliminary results showing Borowicz receiving 4,903 votes to Eggler's 3,452.
Combined, this results in Borowicz ending with 12,622 votes to Eggler's 8,348.
While turnout appeared strong on Election Day, the preliminary results show 55% of Clinton County's 22,597 registered voters participated in this year's election. That is lower than the 2024 general election, which saw 88% turnout, and the 2022 general election, which saw 64%. That said, turnout was still better than off-years, which usually only sees around 40%. Union County saw an average turnout of 53.76%.
Notably, the City of Lock Haven lagged in turnout compared to the county-wide average, with 1st Ward seeing 40.72%, 2nd Ward seeing 41.30%, 3rd Ward seeing 48.21%, 4th Ward seeing 49.51% and 5th Ward seeing 45.02% turnout, respectively.
Of the 12,646 votes tallied in Clinton County for the 76th District, 10,492 were recorded on Election Day, with 2,154 mail-in ballots.
Some interesting historical data for the 76th District: In 2018, when Borowicz was first elected, she received 11,224 votes compared to Michael Hanna, Jr., who received 9,669.
In 2022's general election, which saw the 76th District gain a portion of Union County following redistricting, Borowicz received 9,494 votes compared to her challenger, Denise Maris, who received 4,505. This number includes the Union County portion.
2020 and 2024, as presidential election years, saw greatly elevated election turnouts compared to the midterms. In 2020, Borowicz received 19,175 votes compared to Joe Waltz, who received 10,105. For 2024, Borowicz recorded 21,393 total votes, compared to Denise Maris, who received 9,453. This number includes the Union County portion.

Clinton County also broke for Republican Stacy Garrity in the gubernatorial contest, although incumbent Josh Shapiro swiftly claimed victory statewide. In Clinton County, however, Garrity won the vote 7,371 to Shapiro's 5,106.
