Programs during the month of May at Hyner Run State Park
NORTH BEND -- During the month of May there are several programs that individuals and families can take advantage of at Hyner Run State Park.
Each of the programs may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather conditions or if new state and community guidelines are enacted.
All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate in any of the programs. Hyner Run State Park is located at 86 Hyner Park Road, North Bend, Pa.
-- Join the naturalist on Friday, May 24, at 4 p.m., for some "Birding at Hyner Run State Park." Topics will include the different birds that live at Hyner Run and also how to identify them. Please bring your own binoculars and other birding gear. Meet at the amphitheater by the pool.
-- Join the park naturalist on Sunday, May 26, at 3:30 p.m., to take a look and tell the difference between some of the "Terrific Tree" species in Hyner Run State Park. There will be a craft at the end. This program will be suited towards families with children, but anyone is welcome to attend. Meet at the amphitheater by the pool.
-- A program called "Solitary Rats," will be focusing on a type of packrat that is mainly solitary and not very common in Pennsylvania, the Allegheny Woodrat. Learn about this medium-sized nocturnal rodent that is similar in appearance to a white-footed mouse on Sunday, May 26, at 8 p.m. at Hyner Run State Park. Meet at the amphitheater by the pool. Please bring a lawn chair.

Programs for the month of May at Little Pine
State Park
WATERVILLE -- During the month of May there are several programs that individuals and families can take advantage of at Little Pine State Park.
Each of the programs may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather conditions or if new state and community guidelines are enacted. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate in the programs. Little Pine State Park is located at 4205 Little Pine Creek Road, Waterville, Pa.
-- Join the park naturalist on Friday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m., to learn all about bluebirds and other "Cavity Nesters" in Little Pine State Park. This program will include a walk to some of the cavity nester boxes along the Lakeshore Trail to see if there is any activity. Participants should meet at the kiosk at the top of the dam at the beginning of Lakeshore Trail.
-- Join the park naturalist on Saturday, May 25, at 3:30 p.m., to take a look and tell the difference between some of the "Terrific Tree" species in the Lower Picnic Area of Little Pine State Park. There will be a craft at the end. This program will be suited towards families with children, but anyone is welcome to attend. Participants should meet near the latrines at the Lower Picnic Area of the park.
