Penn State Extension to hold ‘Landscaping Field Day’ Aug. 8

UNIVERSITY PARK -- An upcoming Penn State Extension workshop will offer hands-on learning experiences for the green industry, along with opportunities to earn pesticide recertification credits.
"Landscaping Field Day" will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 at The Arboretum at Penn State.
This workshop is designed for arborists, turfgrass and grounds managers, nursery and garden center personnel, and the green industry workforce.
Sessions will include:
-- Tours of the Penn State Plant Disease Clinic, the Agricultural Analytical Services Lab and the arboretum.
-- Campus walks focusing on pests, conifers and small flowering trees.
-- Recommendations for the best trees and shrubs to support wildlife.
-- Updates on invasive insects that are building in population throughout Pennsylvania.
Participants can earn core and category pesticide credits from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The registration fee is $70, and the deadline to register is 11:59 p.m. Aug. 2.
