Various activities will take place this weekend and next week at area state parks:
Eagle Watch
HOWARD -- Enjoy an Eagle Watch at Bald Eagle State Park on Friday, Aug. 30, from 9-10 a.m. Meet at the Winter Boat Launch area.
DiscoverE Butterflies
HOWARD -- On Friday, Aug. 30, from 1-2 p.m., you can learn more about Butterflies at Bald Eagle State Park. Meet at the Environmental Learning Center, below the Main Park Office. We will learn all about the lifecycle of butterflies and make an easy butterfly craft. If weather permits, we will also go outside and try to catch butterflies ourselves!
Kayak Tour
HOWARD -- On Saturday, Aug. 31, from 10-11:30 a.m., Bring Your Own Kayak and spend your morning exploring part of Foster Joseph Sayers Reservoir with the park naturalist! Bring your own kayak, paddle board or canoe to paddle with the group as we look for wildlife. Participants must wear a PFD for the duration of the program and be at least 12 years old to participate. Individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied on the water by a guardian. Registration is required online on the DCNR Calendar of Events Website.
Insect Safari at Hyner
NORTH BEND -- Join the park naturalist on Friday, Sept. 6, at 2:30 p.m., to go on an "Insect Safari" and learn some of the characteristics of an insect and also go on a walk to look for different insects and their cousins. There will be a craft. This program is intended for children, but anyone is free to attend. Meet at the amphitheater by the pool.
Trout of Hyner Run
NORTH BEND -- Join the park naturalist on Friday, Sept. 6, at 6:30 p.m., and learn about the different types of "Trout of Hyner Run." This will involve a walk to the stream. Afterward, we may have some time to share fish stories. Meet at the amphitheater by the pool.

There will be a craft. This program is intended for children, but anyone is free to attend. Meet at the amphitheater.
The Reservoir, the Dam and Little Pine
WATERVILLE -- Join the naturalist on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m., to learn about "The Reservoir, the Dam and Little Pine," and the significance of it to the Little Pine Creek Valley and to the Susquehanna River. Meet at the beginning of the Lake Shore Trail at the kiosk at the dam.
All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate in the programs. Programs may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new community guidelines.

With at least three days notice, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for educational programs.
