Waterfowl Walk
Spring is the time to welcome back all of our migrating birds. We will drive to various points around Ricketts Glen to look for waterfowl and other water birds visiting Lake Jean on their migration on Wednesday, April 2, at 10-11:30 a.m.
Meet at the Visitor Center in Ricketts Glen State Park.

Virtual Bygone Town of Ricketts Tour
Take a virtual photo tour of the bygone lumber town of Ricketts right from your home. Historical and present photos will be shown. Program will be presented using Microsoft Teams on Friday, April 4, from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Spring Wreath
Making
On April 6, from 1 to 3 p.m., join Sara Street, Rider Park Manager, and Pete Gstalder to make a spring wreath with willows and dogwoods. Cost is $15 for the materials. Please bring cash the day of the workshop. Park and meet at the maintenance shed (you are authorized to drive up).

Full moon hike
On April 12, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., join Lunar's Outdoor Adventures on a full moon hike at Rider Park. Meet at the new picnic pavilion and hike to one of the vistas. Bring a red headlamp to save your night vision.

Stargazing
On Friday, April 25 at 9 p.m., join Central Pennsylvania Observers and Lycoming College Students of Physics for a stargazing session at Rider Park. Please arrive between 8:15-8:45 p.m.
Bring chairs, blankets, warm clothes, and you are welcome to bring your own telescope. Registration requested.
Bird walk
Join Lycoming Audubon Society and Rider Park Manager on a leisurely stroll to identify birds on Saturday, April 26, from 8 to 10 a.m. We will walk on trails adjacent to the meadow at Rider Park.
Please bring binoculars if you have them.
Native plant sale
On Saturday & Sunday, April 26-27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Lycoming College LEAF and Lycoming Audubon Society will host a native plant sale, cash only, at Rider Park, inside the new picnic pavilion.

seminar
Local published author, Dr. Phoebe Wagner, will hold a seminar on environmental creative writing on Saturday, April 26, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Rider Park.

Tree planting and maintenance
Join Sara Street, Rider Park Manager to plant trees and enhance bird habitat on Sunday, April 27, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Spring Cleanup
On Saturday, May 17, 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., join some of the park staff for a "Spring Cleanup" at Hyner Run State Park. Gloves and tools will be provided.
Meet at the Maintenance Area.
Please be sure to arrive at least a half an hour before 10 a.m. to fill out volunteer forms and get instruction. Hot dogs and beverages will be provided for lunch. To register, please go to the DCNR Calendar of Events and filter to Hyner Run State Park for the event. Registration deadline is Monday, May 12.
