HOWARD — As summer gets underway, Central Pennsylvania’s Bald Eagle State Park is answering the call for more accessible outdoor recreation.
With federal campgrounds closing, Pennsylvania’s state parks have seen a 10% statewide jump in campsite reservations — and parks near impacted areas are seeing even higher spikes. DCNR is responding with bold infrastructure investments, including 20 brand-new, full-service campsites added to Bald Eagle State Park in 2024.
Part of the Still Open, Still Awesome campaign, these improvements reflect the Commonwealth’s commitment to keeping outdoor spaces open, affordable and welcoming.
Bald Eagle State Park offers a mix of outdoor experiences: swimming, boating, hiking, fishing and pet-friendly camping — all with no entrance fee. With rising interest in local adventure, the park is a prime example of how DCNR is stepping up to serve both residents and travelers.
