Various local parks will offer programs that folks may be interested in attending. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. The programs may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or community guidelines.

Contest
HOWARD — Check out Bald Eagle State Park’s Facebook page to see all the pumpkins that had been carved and entered into the contest. The pumpkin with the most “liked” picture wins Best of Show. The winner was announced on Friday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m.
The Best in Show winner, Carrie Zerbe, will receive a goody bag and a birdhouse from Bald Eagle State Park, their picture will be featured on the BESP’s Facebook page and in the park office.
Our Moon and Migration
PHILIPSBURG — Join us at the Environmental Learning Center at Black Moshannon State Park on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 6:30 p.m., to discover the vital relationship between our planet and our natural satellite that affects more than just ocean tides but bird migration as well. We’ll discuss more than just moon phases and learn how the Nov. 4 Super Moon (Beaver Moon) impacts wildlife at the park.
Stories in the Stars
PHILIPSBURG — On Saturday, Nov. 1, at 8 p.m., come to Black Moshannon State Park to hear the Greek mythological story of Perseus, Cassiopia, the winged horse Pegasus, Andromeda and Medusa as they rise in the cool autumn sky. Take the opportunity to create your own constellations to help narrate your own story for others. We will meet at Boat Launch 2 even if the sky is overcast. Rain will cancel this program.

Challenge
HYNER — Hyner View State Park will be hosting the Hyner View Trail Challenge on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. This 25K race is not a park event, but more info can be found by visiting www.patraildogs.com/the-view-25K.
Baby
Naturalists
HOWARD — Join us at Bald Eagle State Park on Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the Environmental Learning Center for a calm, indoor program designed specifically for babies, ages six months to two years, and their guardians. Little ones will be free to explore conventional toys, sensory items and other natural objects at their own pace. We will also have some coffee and tea available for caregivers. Stop by anytime between 10-11:30 a.m.
Monitoring the Migration
HOWARD — Migration season is upon us! Join us on Friday, Nov. 7, at 9 a.m. as we monitor the migration of waterfowl in Bald Eagle State Park. We will be on the lookout for unique waterfowl species that pass through the park in November. Some binoculars will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. All ages are welcome. This program will be outdoors and may involve light walking, so please dress for the weather. Meet at the Marina area.
