In the parks

Various local parks will offer programs that folks may be interested in attending. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. The programs may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or community guidelines.

Natural Ornaments

PHILIPSBURG -- Black Moshannon State Park is offering a program to make ornaments out of natural materials. We will be making a pinecone deer, painting animal-themed tree cookies and making a colorful pinecone. Several other crafts will be made. This program will be held indoors, at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 29. Limited to 15 people, pre-registration is required.

Little Naturalists

HOWARD -- Join the park naturalist in the Environmental Learning Center at Bald Eagle State Park on Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 10-11:30 a.m., for a calm, indoor program designed specifically for young children, ages six months -five years. Little ones will be free to explore conventional toys, games, crafts and natural objects at their own pace. Crafts, puzzles, coloring and nature related educational materials will also be available for older children. Coffee will be available for caregivers!

The Little Naturalists program will also be held on Thursday, Dec. 18, from 10-11:30 a.m.

Natural Ornaments

and Holiday Crafts

HOWARD -- The holidays are just around the corner, and we are making our own ornaments and cards out of natural items and conventional craft supplies at Bald Eagle State Park. This program is suitable for all ages, come anytime during the program hours of 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, to participate. Pre-registration is not required for this program. Meet at the ELC below the Main Park Office.

Old Fashioned Skills

PHILIPSBURG -- Black Moshannon State Park offers a variety of Old-Fashioned Skills that may be useful for you to learn. Environmental Education Specialist (EES) Michelle will be showing the basics of two useful skills this month.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, beginning at 1 p.m., you can learn how to make a salve with beeswax. Limited to 12 people, pre-registration is required for this program.
