Spring Route 192 Clean-up
MIFFLINBURG — Join with the Friends of R. B. Winter State Park for the Annual Spring Clean-Up of Route 192! This year’s Spring Clean-Up will be held on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to noon. After the clean-up the Friends will provide lunch to the volunteers. In the event of rain, the clean-up will be rescheduled for Saturday, May 16. Volunteers should meet at the Environmental Learning Center at 9 a.m. and we’ll then divide into groups for the cleanup!
The Friends will be providing gloves, trash bags and safety vests. Make sure to bring a water bottle and weather-appropriate clothing. Since we’ll be working in areas of grass along the edges of the road, insect repellent and checking for ticks afterward is highly recommended! Registration is required!
The Swamp Oak Story
HOWARD — Bald Eagle State Park is home to a massive swamp oak with an impressive story. If you want to know the history of the park and how it connects to the largest Swamp White Oak in Pennsylvania, then come on Friday, April 24, and hear the story of this tree. The hour-long program will be offered at two times, 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. Meet at the Skyline Trailhead for a short hike to visit the tree. Wear shoes ideal for (possibly) muddy terrain.
