Various local parks will offer programs that folks may be interested in attending. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. The programs may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or community guidelines.

Whoo Ate Whooo?

RENOVO -- Come join the Kettle Creek State Park educator on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 4:30 p.m., and you will become forensic detectives in the mysterious case of the owl pellet! Learn how and what owls eat and get hands-on experience with their interesting "leftovers." Please meet at the nature center.

Mammal Sound Bingo

RENOVO -- Did you know we have over 60 different mammal species in our state? How well do you know your calls of the wilds? Come on out to Kettle Creek State Park's nature center on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 7:30 p.m., to learn and review different calls and sounds heard within Pennsylvania. Afterwards, we'll test what you learned with a fun game of Bingo.

Summer Ambience Hike

NORTH BEND -- Join the Hyner Run State Park naturalist for a relaxing hike on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 3:30 p.m., on the Nature Trail to hear summer's ambience. Topics of discussion will center around what is being heard. This is designed to be an informal program. Meet at the amphitheater by the pool.

WATERVILLE -- On Saturday, Aug. 8, at 8:30 p.m., join the Little Pine State Park naturalist for a relaxing evening to hear "Summer Ambience." Topics of discussion will center around what is being heard. This is designed to be an informal program. Meet at the boat launch and please bring a lawn chair.

Solar Viewing

WATERVILLE -- On Friday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m., join the naturalist at Little Pine State Park to do some "Solar Viewing" and learn things about the most well-known star in our solar system, the sun. Program will be modified if the weather is cloudy and may be cancelled in the event of severe weather. Meet at the beginning of Lake Shore Trail at the top of dam.
