Various local parks will offer programs that folks may be interested in attending. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. The programs may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or community guidelines.
CCC of Hyner Run
NORTH BEND -- Join the Hyner Run State Park naturalist on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 4 p.m., and learn about the work the Civilian Conservation Corps did in the 1930's and 1940's in the area, the culture in these camps and how it prepared some to be well-disciplined World War II veterans. Meet at the amphitheater by the pool. Please bring a lawn chair.
Fall Ambience
WATERVILLE -- Join the Little Pine State Park naturalist for a relaxing evening to hear fall's ambience on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 8-9 p.m. Topics of discussion will center around what is being heard. This is designed to be an informal program. Meet at the amphitheater.
Whitetail Deer
WATERVILLE -- On Saturday, Sept. 26, at 2:30 p.m., join the Little Pine State Park naturalist to learn about the PA state animal, the "Whitetail Deer." Topics will include adaptations, natural history and diet. All children must be accompanied by an adult to participate. Meet at the campground entrance.
Nature Journaling Club
HOWARD -- Join Autumn Knepp at Bald Eagle State Park on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m., for a topic-focused Nature Journaling session! We will have an introduction to nature journaling, perfect for beginners, or a nice refresher for experienced nature journal keepers. Bring your nature journal and favorite journaling supplies to this meeting. If you don't want to bring art supplies, we will also have some pens, markers, crayons, etc. to share, along with some paper that can be spliced into your personal journal later. All ages and artistic abilities are welcome! Meet at Pavilion 7 in the Beach Area. The journaling session runs from 10 a.m. until noon.
Explore Archery
COBURN -- Archery for any level! Don't know much and want to learn a few tips? Or you want to get in a little more practice? Educators at Poe Valley State Park will help with your archery skills on Saturday, Sept. 26. Drop in anytime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to try your hand at a little archery! You are welcome to come at any point between the times given. All equipment is provided. Anyone under age 18 MUST arrive with a parent/guardian to sign a participation waiver.

Intro to Fly-Fishing
COBURN -- Fly fishing can be a fun way to fish for the first time, or it can present a new experience for seasoned anglers. This intro class is perfect for anyone interested in learning the basics of fly fishing as we go over the equipment involved, knot tying and casting techniques before we get some time fishing on the water.
Join the park educators at Poe Valley State Park on Sunday, Sept. 27, for an intro to Fly-Fishing.
The program is for those 16 and older. If this is your first time out on the water this season, don't worry about rushing out to buy a fishing license. The fishing license requirement is WAIVED for this program for individuals 16 and older. This program is FREE and all equipment is provided at no cost. If you have equipment of your own already, you are more than welcome to bring it.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED and can be done on the park's website. There are only eight spots available. Please be sure to register EACH person if you are signing up as a group. More information like exact meeting location will be emailed out to registrants upon registration. Registration will close on Friday, Sept. 25, at 11 p.m..
This program will go on in the event of rain, but will be cancelled in the event of thunderstorms.
