By From Staff Reports 2 min read

LOCK HAVEN -- As autumn brings colorful foliage and cooler temperatures to the region, Haven Hiking and Outdoor Recreation, hosted by Common Places Church of Lock Haven/Newberry, invites community members to enjoy the season with a series of outdoor activities planned for October and November.

Formed in January 2026, the group organizes hikes and outdoor adventures in and around the Lock Haven area. Designed to be family-friendly and open to everyone in the community, Haven Hiking and Outdoor Recreation welcomes both seasoned adventurers and those who are just beginning to explore outdoor recreation.

The group enjoys moderate hikes of approximately three to five miles, along with a variety of other outdoor activities, including biking on rail-trails, kayaking, tubing and more. The goal is to foster fellowship and build community while experiencing the beauty of God's handiwork in the outdoors.

Three activities are planned for the coming weeks:

-- Fall Bike Ride on the Bald Eagle Valley Trail (BEVT) -- Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. Participants can enjoy the autumn scenery on a ride along the trail.

-- Fall Foliage Hike to Boggs Run Vista -- Sunday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. This hike in Sproul State Forest offers an opportunity to experience the region's fall colors and scenic mountain views.

-- Eagleton Mine Camp Trail Hike -- Sunday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. Participants will explore a section of the Eagleton Mine Camp Trail and enjoy time outdoors together.

The club encourages individuals and families to participate, regardless of their level of outdoor experience. Whether looking to discover a new trail, enjoy a bike ride or connect with others who appreciate the outdoors, participants will find opportunities for recreation, fellowship and community.

Those interested in joining an activity can find additional information, including specific meetup locations, by registering through the group's Heylo page. Participants should sign up and log in to access activity details. Visit heylo.group/haven-hiking-outdoor-rec.

All are welcome to join in discovering the natural beauty of the region and building connections along the way.
