WATERVILLE -- Join the Little Pine State Park naturalist on Saturday, Oct. 24, and learn about the work the Civilian Conservation Corps did in the 1930's and 1940's in the area, the culture in these camps and how it prepared some to be well-disciplined World War II veterans. The program begins at 3 p.m. Meet at the amphitheater.

Batty for Bats

HOWARD -- Celebrate spooky season with the Bald Eagle State Park naturalists with a walk and talk about bats on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. We will be discussing bat species in Pa., their role in our ecosystem and threats to bat populations. We will also take a leisurely walk on nearby trails where we will hopefully spot some bats in the sky! Meet at Pavilion 5 on Skyline Drive for the program that runs from 6-7 p.m.

Owl Prowl

HOWARD -- Join the Bald Eagle State Park naturalist on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m., as we try to communicate with birds of the night! Night Hike: Legends and Lore

MIFFLINBURG -- Join the RB Winter State Park naturalist on Friday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m., for a guided night hike with a spooky twist! While walking the Rapid Run Nature Trail (1.09-mile), we will be stopping periodically to listen to short stories on local legends and lore. While this hike is fairly easy and recommended for all-ages, there may be tripping hazards (roots, rocks, holes, etc) in the dark. We recommend bringing flashlights (covered with red-tape to protect night-vision).

Nature Journaling Club

HOWARD -- Join Autumn Knepp, Pennsylvania Master Naturalist, for a topic-focused Nature Journaling session at Bald Eagle State Park on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. We will have an introduction to nature journaling, perfect for beginners, or a nice refresher for experienced nature journal keepers. Bring your nature journal and favorite journaling supplies to this meeting that runs from 10 a.m. to noon. If you don't want to bring art supplies, we will also have some pens, markers and crayons to share, along with some paper that can be spliced into your personal journal later. All ages and artistic abilities are welcome! Meet at Pavilion 9 at the Bald Eagle Launch.

Monarch Butterflies

HOWARD -- Join the Bald Eagle State Park naturalist every Wednesday in November for a short virtual program packed with information! Throughout our 2026-2027 Virtual Series, we will be discussing topics that align with Pa. History, wildlife, State Parks and more! Please register for each virtual program individually to get the links to join the programs via email. All programs are free of charge and welcome all ages.

On Wednesday, Nov. 4, the virtual series is about the Monarch Butterfly, its lifecycle, their migration and conservation status. The virtual program is online from 12-12:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, the virtual series program will be held from 10-10:30 a.m. due to the holiday schedule. Since it's Veteran's Day, the topic will be the Bald Eagle, America's symbol of freedom!
