Man jailed on sex charges
JERSEY SHORE -- Obadiah Moser, 59, of 418 Washington St., Jersey Shore, was taken into custody Thursday morning at his home on charges of molesting a teenage boy several times during a two-year period beginning in 2017, according to Tiadaghton Valley Regional police.
Moser was arraigned before District Judge William Solomon on a total of 40 counts, including three counts each of rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, 10 counts each of statutory sexual assault and unlawful contact assault and one count of correcting the morals of a minor.
He was jailed in lieu of $200,000 bail.
Theft of tools
JULIAN -- A 50-year-old Julian man reported to state police at Rockview that tools and a tool bag were stolen from Union Township, Centre County on Oct. 16.
Police said the bag and tools are valued at $800.
Check frozen
BELLEFONTE -- State police at Rockview are investigating the theft of a check reported by a Bellefonte woman on Nov. 4.
Police said the woman reported someone wrote a check out for the amount of $750, but the check was frozen so the check could not be processed.
Driver injured
BELLEFONTE -- Matthew T. Mundy, 32, of Bellefonte, suffered unknown injuries in a one-vehicle crash on Oct. 27, at about 6:21 a.m., according to state police at Rockview.
Police said Mundy was northbound on Route 220 on South Eagle Valley Road and exited the roadway. After exiting the road, his Jeep Cherokee struck a roadside ditch adjacent to the shoulder of the road, causing the vehicle to go airborne and hit a utility pole approximately 15 feet off the ground. The impact caused the utility pole to split in half.
Upon PSP's arrival, it was determined that the operator had left the scene. He was located shortly after the accident and upon further investigation, it was discovered that Mundy was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and the airbags were not deployed, police said.
Mundy was located in a yard at a nearby residence, police said. He was transported to Mt. Nittany Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries, police said.
The vehicle was towed from the scene by S&R Towing.
Mundy was charged with careless driving, police said.
Two-vehicle crash
LOCK HAVEN -- City police investigated a two-vehicle accident at 2:28 p.m. on Nov. 3 at the corner of Bellefonte Avenue and Commerce Street.
Drivers were Charlene Ann Mason,and Melinda S. Allen, whose vehicles collided after Allen told police she did not know if she had a green light or a red light when she entered the intersection. She will be cited for traffic control signals, police said.
There were no injuries and both vehicles were towed from the scene by Hillside Towing.
Man charged after shots fired
PORT MATILDA -- Brett Buchanan, 29, of Port Matilda was charged by state police at Rockview with assault with a weapon after he allegedly fired a gun during a domestic dispute with a 43-year-old Port Matidla man.
Police said the incident occurred on Nov. 2 at 8:40 p.m. on South Mountain Road in Taylor Township, Centre County.
Charges were filed in the office of a local magisterial district judge, police said.
